The Bump Rounded Square offers acceleration and drive due to a fairly straight rail line. It has a relatively smooth rail to rail transition thanks to a balanced combination of curves and its rounded corners. It has planing area for weak waves and the bump forms a pivot point in the rail line for more aggressive and instantaneous direction changes. It is the tail most used by competitors.Area and fluidity. A rail line with a gradual constant curve for a solid hold. A more secure drive and acceleration out of turns. For classic styles. Allows for supporting heavier riders. More predictable than the (BRS) for power carving.A curvier more rounded tail shape than the (RS) allows an easier turn initiation. A smoother sensation than the with the (RS). Reduced area for burying the tail in big turns off the top and sending up buckets of spray. Good for powerful waves and popular for tube-riding. Wider versions are ideal for learning.A squirt and drive out of turns due to a fairly straight rail line. Good holding qualities. Popular on semi-guns. With similar area to the (RS) and (BRS) permitting easy intentional snaps and tail-slides. The V-cut of the extreme end assures good control in all manoeuvres. A tail with spark, very popular with Pro Surfers Between a swallow and round square. Spark and drive. Positive hold. A tail that functions well although fluctuates in popularity due to it's angular look. Like the Pin Tail in function but designed for medium width boards. It's the Pin Tail, rounded. Security in sizeable hollow waves. The reduction in width and area is to assure that the back fins are securely immersed in the water through high speed turns. With boards of reduced width, the pin shape allows an easier direction change initiation than permitted by straighter tail shapes such as the (SS). It's the standard tail shape for longer length boards and big waves. Smooth and fluid turns for waves with a bit of push. Also popular for small waves if tail width is increased. A tail that permits a good control on uncontrollable surfaces.
